‘Grown Ups’ Tops ‘Toy Story 3’ On DVD Rental Charts

Pixar film still the best selling disc, while “Scott Pilgrim” fizzles with DVD debut

Adam Sandler and his merry band of arrested development pranksters held off Buzz Lightyear and Woody on the DVD rental charts.

The funnyman’s latest “Grown Ups” was the most rented disc in its first week of release supplanting “Toy Story 3.”

In its sophomore week on the charts, the Pixar smash had to settle for second place on the rental end, but continued to hold sway as the week’s best-selling DVD, according to Rentrak.

Also premiering last week, box office under-whelmer “Charlie St. Cloud” showed more muscle on the DVD charts than it did at the multiplexes. The Zac Efron vehicle was the sixth most rented disc and the third most rented.

Not faring so well; fanboy favorite “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” fizzled in its debut. The graphic novel adaptation was embraced by critics, but given the cold shoulder by fans during its theatrical run last summer. It's  anemic showing will only further hobble Michael Cera’s career, having only reached sixth and seventh place on the sales and rental charts respectively.

Next week brings the release of awards contender “The Kids Are All Right” and “The Last Airbender.”
