‘Green Eggs and Ham’ Series Gets Go-Ahead From Netflix

Adaptation of Dr. Seuss classic receives 13-episode order

Netflix will eat green eggs and ham, it will eat them, Sam-I-Am!

The streaming service has ordered an animated adaptation of the classic Dr. Seuss series, which comes from Ellen DeGeneres’ A Very Good Production, among others.

Netflix made the announcement Wednesday in a whimsical press release mimicking the famous Dr. Seuss cadence. The release reads, in part…

“We’d love to share some happy news
based on the rhymes of Dr. Seuss.
Green Eggs and Ham will become a show
and you’re among the first to know.”

The series will revolve around standoffish inventor Guy and Sam-I-Am, who embark on a cross-country trip full of adventure, learning and tests of their friendship.

DeGeneres is executive producing, as are Jared Stern, who’s adapting the book for television. Jeff Kleeman, Mike Karz and David Dobkin are also executive producing.

In addition to A Very Good Production, A Stern Talking To and Gulfstream Television are producing in association with Warner Bros Animation. Warner Bros. Television is distributing.

Netflix vice president of original content Cindy Holland said of the upcoming series, “”We think this will be a hit, ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ is a perfect fit, for our growing slate of amazing stories, available exclusively in all Netflix territories.”
