December 21 was a relatively silent night.
ABC’s “Great Christmas Light Fight” and “Holiday Baking Show” finales were good enough in the key 18-49 demographic to match CBS atop the Nielsen ratings sheets on Monday. However, CBS’ full line-up of repeats eclipsed the Disney-owned broadcast networks originals among total viewers.
That said, ABC’s primetime lineup was preempted in Detroit for ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” game, lending a slight boost that will be pulled out in final numbers. ABC was the only English-language broadcast network that programmed new episodes on Monday night.
CBS and ABC tied for first in ratings, both with a 1.2 rating/4 share in the advertiser-coveted demo. CBS was first in total viewers with an average of 6 million, according to preliminary numbers. ABC was second with 5.5 million total viewers.
For ABC, “The Great Christmas Light Fight 2015” at 8 p.m. posted a 1.3/4 and 5.9 million total viewers. At 10, “The Great Holiday Baking Show” received a 1.1/4 and 4.8 million total viewers.
NBC was third in ratings with a 1.1/4 and in viewers with 4 million. The network carried the pro football game in the New Orleans market.
Univision was fourth in ratings with a 0.7/2 and in viewers with 2 million.
Telemundo was fifth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and sixth in viewers with 1.66 million.
The CW was sixth in ratings with a 0.5/2 and seventh in viewers with 1.61 million.
Fox was seventh in ratings with a 0.4/1, but fifth in viewers with 1.73 million.
