Jepsen plays Frenchie in Fox’s upcoming live broadcast production of “Grease,” while Donohue plays fellow
The musical stars Aaron Tveit as Danny and Julianne Hough as Sandy, as well as Carlos PenaVega as Kenickie; Keke Palmer as Marty; David Del Rio as Putzie; and Jessie J, who will open the live event with a performance of a brand-new version of “Grease (Is the Word).”
Much like the musical and film, the TV adaptation sees the approach of senior year spelling an end to Danny and Sandy’s summer romance — until she unexpectedly transfers to his high school. With their friends pulling them in different directions, it’s up to the lovers to stay hopelessly devoted as they make their way from Rydell High to a new frontier.
The Paramount Television production will be directed on stage by Thomas Kail, and on TV by Alex Rudzinski. Broadway writers Robert Cary and Jonathan Tolins will write the script.
“Grease: Live” will air at 7 p.m. ET on Fox on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016.
