Grammy’s Primetime Nomination Concert Will Be Back

CBS also announces airdates for Kennedy Center Honors, Tony Awards.

The Grammy nominations are once again going primetime.

CBS today announced plans for the return of "The Grammy Nominatons Concert Live– Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night," a one-hour special featuring musical performances and the revelation of this year’s Grammy nominees.

The Recording Academy and CBS introduced the idea of a primetime nomination special last year. And while the special itself wasn’t a blockbuster, it did help build enough momentum to allow CBS to substantially grow the ratings for last year’s Grammycast.

The 2009 special will air Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m., in place of CBS’s normal comedy block. John Cossette and Ken Ehrlich will serve as the executive producers.

Meanwhile, CBS also confirmed airdates for two other 2009-10 specials. The Kennedy Center Honors will air Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 9 (among the honorees: Bruce Springsteen and Robert DeNiro), while the Tonys are set to return Sunday, June 13.
