Kanye West almost took it back to 2009 again during the 57th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday.
Beck was on stage accepting the award for “Best Album of the Year” for “Morning Phase.” Seconds into his speech, West rushed the stage before going to sit back down. Beck won the award over Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Pharrell Williams
“No, come back,” Beck said with a smile.
The moment on Sunday’s show was noticed quickly by social media users. Singer Kelly Clarkson tweeted, “Okay @kanyewest that was hilarious!!!!”
@DrewBlahBlah wrote, “Can we get a recount!? #Grammys #TVwithTV.”
West rushing the stage evoked a notorious 2009 MTV Video Music Awards moment. Taylor Swift won Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me” over Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies.” When Swift took the stage, West grabbed the microphone.
“I’m sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!” West shouted.
