Grammys: Annie Lennox Takes Hozier to ‘Church’ With ‘I Put a Spell on You’ Duet (Video)

The “Diva” singer grabs spotlight from Irish bluesman on mashup of “Take Me to Church” and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’s classic tune

Hozier took to the Grammy stage to perform his breakout hit “Take Me to Church,” but was quickly outshined by Annie Lennox, who joined him for the last verse of his song before stealing the spotlight completely with a performance of “I Put a Spell on You” that set social media ablaze.

The Irish singer, who burst onto the scene with a memorable “Saturday Night Live” musical performance in October, performed a typically soulful rendition of “Take Me to Church” as he’s done now on various stages including “The Late Show With David Letterman” and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Lennox joined in for the final verse before taking over the lead on a performance of “I Put a Spell On You” that included thunderous vocals and, at one point, a harmonica formed from her own hands.

Twitter, not surprisingly, lost its collective cool over the performance.

Lennox has won four Grammy awards, while Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” is nominated this year in the Song of the Year category.
