“Grace of Monaco” will be the opening night film at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, organizers said Friday.
The news comes a day after it was revealed that The Weinstein Company had pulled the biopic about film star Grace Kelly’s marriage to Prince Rainier III from its schedule. It was originally scheduled to debut on March 14, 2014, after being pushed back from a November, 2013 debut.

The picture will screen on May 14 at the Palais des Festivals and will be shown out of competition.
Nicole Kidman stars as Kelly and Tim Roth plays Rainier. Director Olivier Dahan (“La Vie en Rose”) reportedly clashed with Weinstein Company chief Harvey Weinstein over the final cut of the film.
Last year’s opening night festival film was Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby.”
