The bird has been sprung from his cage, and just in time to see how it all ends.
In TheWrap’s exclusive clip from Thursday’s series finale of “Gotham,” Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) has been released from prison and is walking out of his jail cell to a slew of Gotham’s press, dressed in all the penguin-suit glory fans of Fox’s Batman prequel series have been waiting for.
When he’s asked by a journalist about the first thing he’ll do now that he’s a free man, he responds: “I will lay flowers on the grave of my beloved mother.”
However, when the topic of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) — and how Gordon put him in prison — comes up, Cobblepot says this: “The best revenge against Jim Gordon will be a life spent serving the city I love.”
Then he notices some shady guys across the street from the prison and pulls a young reporter into his fancy town car to offer him “an exclusive” — except he really just needs to *borrow* his jacket and hat.

Here’s the description for the final episode of “Gotham”:
The series flash-forwards 10 years into the future, as Bruce is set to return to Gotham for the opening of the new Wayne Tower. A series of crimes leads Gordon to believe Penguin and The Riddler are up to their old tricks. However, when Bullock is framed for a murder, Gordon begins to piece together an even more sinister plot targeting the city, and a new figure emerges from the shadows to be the hero Gotham desperately needs.
Along with McKenzie and Taylor, “Gotham” stars Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Morena Baccarin as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/The Riddler and Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox.
The series finale also features Cameron Monaghan as Jeremiah Valeska, Lili Simmons as adult Selina Kyle, Richard Kind as Mayor Aubrey James, Francesca Root-Dodson as Ecco, JW Cortes as Detective Alvarez, Kelcy Griffin as Detective Harper and Jeté Laurence as Barbara Lee Gordon.
The “Gotham” series finale airs tonight, Thursday, at 8/7c on Fox.
