As we see in the Season 1 preview, however, his act of mercy may have set off a chain of events that has dire consequences for all involved.
First, up-and-coming queenpin Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) delivers a strong threat in the direction of mob boss Carmine Falcone (John Doman), when she tells a minion, “I am going to kill that old man with my bare hands and my teeth.” Meanwhile, Detective Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) points his gun at his partner, Detective Gordon, proving the two still have plenty of personal and professional politics to sift through.
Elsewhere in Gotham, the young and recently orphaned Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) continues his search for the person who murdered his parents. In one telling scene he holds his hand over an open flame, foreshadowing the tough superhero he is destined to become: Batman.
Then, Mayor Aubrey James (Richard Kind) launches a plot involving Gotham’s iconic supervillain storage space, Arkham Asylum.

And, perhaps most interestingly, a new knife-wielding baddie named Victor Zsasz (guest star Anthony Carrigan) is introduced to a city already chock-full of villains. The scarred, scary serial killer storms the Gotham Police Department looking for Detective Gordon — and dares to threaten him in a room full of cops.
