Gotham City, there is now a doctor in the house.
“Homeland” actress Morena Baccarin has been cast in Fox’s “Gotham” as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, who in the comics becomes a parental figure to young Bruce Wayne after his parents are killed. Per the Fox show’s official character description, we’ll meet Thompkins as she works at the newly opened Arkham Asylum Home for the Criminally Insane.
“In addition to her medical skills, her coolness under pressure will serve her well as she finds herself drawn close to James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and into more and more dangerous waters,” the spec teases.

Baccarin will recur this year and become a regular in Season 2, should that renewal occur. A second season looks likely, as last week, Fox ordered a back six episodes for Season 1.
Thus far, “Gotham” is averaging a strong 3.9 rating season-to-date in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic, according to Nielsen’s most current data through Sunday. On Monday, the Batman prequel dipped to a 2.2 fast national rating, which obviously does not consider delayed viewing.
For her work on Showtime drama “Homeland,” Baccarin was nominated in 2013 for a supporting actress Emmy.
