Gordon Ramsay Speaks Out on Chef Suicide

gordon ramsayGordon Ramsay released a statement in reaction to the suicide of a former contestant on his Fox reality show "Kitchen Nightmares."

"I was fortunate to spend time with Joe during the first season of 'Kitchen Nightmares,'" Ramsay said in a statement Tuesday night. "Joe was a brilliant chef, and our thoughts go out to his family, friends and staff."

Joseph Cerniglia of Wayne, N.J., was the chef-owner of Campania, in Fair Lawn, N.J. He jumped from the George Washington Bridge into the Hudson River on Friday.

He is the second chef to commit suicide after appearing on one of Ramsay's cooking shows. "Hell's Kitchen" contestant Rachel Brown shot herself a year after appearing on the 2006 edition of the show.
