GoPro to Launch Streaming Channel on Roku

Popular video-camera platform will reach over 10 million Roku users this Spring

GoPro is taking its video-adventure platform to Roku this spring in the form of a streaming channel, the two companies announced Thursday.

The channel will deliver GoPro mainstays like daredevil skiing videos and surfers riding huge waves around the world, as well as featured playlists, favorite video sections and tutorials on which GoPro products were used to “get the shot.”

GoPro currently has an extensive channel on YouTube as well as distribution partners in Xbox, LG and Virgin America.

“GoPro content is unique in that it emotionally resonates with a global audience,” said Adam Dornbusch, the company’s Head of Programming. “We are excited to bring the world of GoPro to Roku customers as they are one of the most engaged customer bases when it comes to the amount of streaming content they view.”

“We’re incredibly excited to bring the action-packed videos created by the GoPro community to the Roku streaming platform, said Ed Lee, vice president of content at Roku. “Roku delivers an experience that our customers truly love, and I know that they’re going to be captivated by the inspiring new content available to them with the launch of the GoPro channel this spring.”
