In what was certainly not the first and sure not the last time she will tell this slightly naughty anecdote while promoting “Gone Girl,” Rosamund Pike relayed the story of a super awkward sex scene rehearsal during an appearance on Monday’s “Late Night.”

Pike told host Seth Meyers about how legendarily meticulous director David Fincher forced Pike and co-star Neil Patrick Harris to practice the mechanics of a particularly messy sex scene (no spoilers, don’t worry!) on an empty soundstage before shooting the actual thing.
“When you’re actually shooting it and you’ve got a whole crew around you, it’s remarkably normal. But the thing David asked us to do was rehearse this scene for two hours alone on an empty soundstage, just Neil and myself, and that is when it feels highly inappropriate,” Pike said.
“You are alone with a man who is not your husband, who also has a husband,” she explained, with the audience slowly getting the joke. “He’s in his underwear, you’re in your underwear, and you’re sort of dry humping on a bed. And no one’s there so we think we should be professional about this, we should probably film it on an iPhone and see how it looks. And then you watch this thing back and then it looks like we’re some kind of super creepy home porn movie.”
To make matters worse, Fincher brought Ben Affleck to review the tape. And he’s friggin’ Batman.
Gone Girl hits theaters on Friday.
