Ricky Gervais returned to burn Hollywood stars at the Golden Globes for a fourth time on Sunday, and no one felt the heat more than Ben Affleck, or perhaps his best friend Matt Damon, who took the stage immediately after Gervais made note of the tabloid allegations of extramarital affairs about the “Argo” actor-director.
“Our next presenter is the star of the hilarious comedy ‘The Martian,’” Gervais said. “He’s also the only person who Ben Affleck hasn’t been unfaithful to. Please welcome Matt Damon.”
Damon came to the stage with a grin on his face, but didn’t quite know how to follow the joke, and needed to collect himself before reading his speech from the TelePrompter.
The joke is a reference to rumors that Affleck, who will soon be seen in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” cheated on his wife, Jennifer Garner, with their nanny.
