The Golden Globes will have two more awards to give out when the show returns to broadcast television next year. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has split a category, turning a possible two supporting actor TV awards into four, the organization announced Wednesday.

The four new categories are: Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series/Musical-Comedy or Drama; Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series/ Musical-Comedy or Drama;  Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series/Anthology or Motion Picture Made for Television; and Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series/Anthology or Motion Picture Made for Television.

Previously the show had just two awards: Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries, or Television Film and Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries, Television Film.

Nominations will be announced on Monday, Dec. 12, with winners announced on Tuesday, Jan. 10 in a ceremony televised live on NBC and Peacock from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, marking the show’s return to broadcast following a widespread, yearlong industry boycott over a lack of diversity and stagnant reforms in the HFPA.

In keeping with rules implemented last year, when the awards show unfolded entirely through social media, there will continue to be no mandatory motion picture screenings and submissions of both film and TV programs remain voluntary for eligibility. All projects will automatically be eligible as long as they were released during the calendar year of 2022 (or during the longer eligibility window applicable to non-English language films), and studios, networks and streaming services will have the option to submit their titles for consideration in specific categories, the deadline for which is Nov. 7.
