It took less than five minutes for model Chrissy Teigen to get memed.
Chrissy Teigen’s not-so-pretty cry face got the best of her during the Golden Globe Awards. She couldn’t hold back her emotion after husband John Legend and rapper Common took the best original song award for “Glory” heard in the Best Motion Picture – Drama-nominated “Selma.”
Savvy social media users captioned her facial expression with witty remarks.
“When he says he wants to get to know me better,” tweeted @YesJulz.
“When you realize Taylor Swift isn’t going to show up to the Golden Globes and you want to stop watching,” chimed in Buzzfeed’s @itsashlyperez.
“Watching the #GoldenGlobes when Amy and Tina are not on stage,” wrote @joelcifer.
Teigen joined in the Twitter conversation, writing “It’s been 5 minutes, and I’m a meme.” She also made light of the jokes by posting an Instagram photo of her and Legend mimicking the face.
Teigen did explain herself — sort of. She apologized for not practicing her cry face.
Either way, she’s reached a new level of celebrity now that she’s been memed. Congratulations.
