“Good Morning America” chief meteorologist Ginger Zee will join this season’s cast of “Dancing with the Stars,” she announced on the ABC morning news program Friday.
Zee, 35, gave birth to her first child in December and remains on maternity leave, planning to return to “GMA” on March 14. Zee will travel between New York City, where “GMA” is based, and Los Angeles, where “DWTS” films.
She will be partnered with pro dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy.
In 2014, Zee performed a dance routine with former “DWTS” champ Derek Hough the morning after the Academy Awards. Zee spent two days rehearsing with Hough for the performance, which she described as the first time in years that she had done any organized dance.
She joins “Fuller House” star Jodie Sweetin as Season 22 cast members of “DWTS.”
Zee’s new partner Chmerkovskiy won the mirrorball trophy in Season 20 with partner Rumor Willis. He was paired with Tamar Braxton last season.
Sweetin’s professional partner this season is Keo Motsepe.
