Gladys Knight has been named will sing the national anthem for CBS’ Super Bowl LIII, and TheWrap’s already got Las Vegas’ Over/Under on time length.
Below is the prop bet, courtesy of BetOnline:
Length of U.S. National Anthem by Gladys Knight in Super Bowl LIII
Over/Under 1 Minute 50 seconds
In other words, should one bet the “Over,” they would be thinking Knight’s first-to-final notes will run longer than 110 seconds. The “Under” means she’ll go short on that length, which is customized to her singing style and based on Knight’s previous performances of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Let the games (and gaming) begin…
Knight, the Empress of Soul, is a seven-time Grammy winner and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Pips in 1996.
Performer and deaf activist Aarron Loggins will sign in American Sign Language both the national anthem and “America The Beautiful,” according to an NFL press release.
Knight has scored No. 1 hits in Pop, Gospel, R&B and Adult Contemporary, and has triumphed in film, television and live performance. Knight has recorded two number-one Billboard Hot 100 singles (“Midnight Train to Georgia” and “That’s What Friends Are For”), 11 number-one R&B singles, and six number-one R&B albums.
Super Bowl LIII takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Feb. 3.
