Gillian Anderson will channel David Bowie in a new episode of “American Gods,” and the first clip shows her doing a hell of an impersonation of the late singer.
In the clip (above), Anderson’s character Media — who has already appeared as Lucille Ball’s Lucy and will also show up as Marilyn Monroe, among other iconic characters — confronts Technical Boy (Bruce Langley).
Gillian Anderson stars as the New God Media in the critically acclaimed series “American Gods.” Media assumes whatever form will deliver her message most effectively and is often personified by iconic celebrities.
The two are working together against Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane), but clearly there’s some friction there too. Media demands Technical Boy apologize for lynching Shadow (Ricky Whittle), as we saw in the series premiere episode, and threatens that Mr. World (Crispin Glover), who we’ve yet to meet, is the one demanding it.
“American Gods” was recently renewed for Season 2.
Season 1 of “American Gods” premiered on Sunday, April 30. The first season consists of eight episodes, but does not cover the entirety of Neil Gaiman’s novel, on which the series is based.
Bryan Fuller and Michael Green serve as showrunners on the Neil Gaiman adaptation. Emily Browning also stars, along with Jonathan Tucker, Orlando Jones, Yetide Badacki and Kristin Chenoweth.
“American Gods” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Starz.
