Geena Davis has been cast in the pilot for a new CBS legal drama, TheWrap has learned.
The show doesn’t have a title yet, but it is a mother and son legal drama.
In the series, Geena stars as Joan, a razor-sharp attorney, who is self-made. She put herself through law school to be able to support her three children after the death of her first husband.
Joan is described as appearance-concerned and controlling. In the show, her second marriage will unravel, and she’ll need to rely on her son, Todd, her least reliable child, to help her. Todd uses less than legal tactics, which she can’t condone, but his sleuthing out information proves impressive. Joan will have to weigh the pros and cons of hiring her son to work in her office in the potential series.
Scott Prendergast is the executive writer and producer. Other EPs include Dr. Phil McGraw, Jay McGraw and Julia Eisenman (Stage 29 Productions).
Davis is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and attorney Katherine McClure at Hansen, Jacobson.
