Ryan Lopez is an atypical double agent in Fox’s upcoming drama, “Gang Related” — and his two worlds are about to collide.
Lopez (Ramon Rodriguez) is an officer on the Los Angeles Police Department’s Gang Task Force. There’s just one problem: he’s also a loyal member of the city’s most prominent gang. Awkwaaard.

On the show, a young Lopez was brought under the wing of the Acostas, the crime family who runs the Los Angelicos gang. After a stint in the military, Lopez was sent to infiltrate and rise through the ranks of the LAPD. That’s where the show picks up.
But according to Rodriguez, the series is more about family than firearms.
“It’s got the word ‘Gang’ in the title and people are automatically probably gonna think, ‘Oh, this is just a gang show,’” Rodriguez said in a behind-the-scenes video. “But it’s actually about family, on both ends — on the cop side and on the gang side. The show constantly lives in the grey area.”
