Kathie Lee Gifford’s got a new morning show — and a new Hoda. The former “Today” show host is teaming up with Hodor from “Game of Thrones” for what promises to be a boozy, if fake, new talk show.
On Tuesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Jimmy Kimmel introduced “Thrones” fans hurting for more Westeros drama following Sunday’s series finale to “Kathie Lee & Hodor” — a show that is definitely not really one of the “Game of Thrones” spinoffs in development at HBO. And based on the “promo” Kimmel played, it for sure should never be.
“It’s America’s new favorite talk show, ‘Kathie Lee & Hodor!’ You’ll flip for daytime’s hottest new duo,” a voiceover announcer says during snippets of Hodor (Kristian Nairn, the actor who actually played Hodor for six seasons on “Game of Thrones”) and Gifford acting as their crazy, wine-loving, wisecracking selves. Well, really Gifford does most of the talking.
“We’re like an old married couple already!” she jokes to her new co-host.
“Hodor!” Hodor replies. OK, so maybe this won’t be the chattiest of morning talk shows.
“TV’s kookiest, zaniest, drunkiest team has finally landed… and it’s a hell of a hoot!” the voiceover adds, before noting the show will air only on NatGoT — get it?
“Wine-ter is coming,” folks.
