Rosario Dawson already has signed on as a journalist assigned to interview Rock’s character for a New York magazine. A former party animal, Dawson's journalist is now sober and in a committed relationship, but sparks fly as she interviews Rock.

Union, represented by Intellectual Artists Management, last appeared in Sony's "Think Like a Man," one of three movies she made last year. Those were her first films since 2008; prior that she had regular supporting roles in films like "Bad Boys 2" and "Cadillac Records."

Scott Rudin is producing Rock's movie, which will shoot in New York this summer.
