FX’s ‘Legion’ Trailer Reveals X-Men Connection (Video)

First footage from Noah Hawley’s Marvel drama series starring Dan Stevens unveiled at Comic-Con

The first trailer for FX’s Marvel X-Men series “Legion” was unveiled at the San Diego Comic Con Saturday.

Dan Stevens stars in the series, which hails from “Fargo” showrunner Noah Hawley. The Marvel series is based on a character from the “X-Men” comic books, and Stevens’ character is unequivocally called a mutant for the first time in the trailer.

Hawley serves as showrunner, and Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory and John Cameron will produce the comic book adaptation.

Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart and Rachel Keller also star in the series.

The pilot introduces the story of David Haller (Stevens), who has struggled with mental illness since he was a teenager. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

In the comics, Haller is a mutant and the son of Professor Charles Xavier, leader of the X-Men.

The eight-episode fist season of “Legion” will air on FX in early 2017.
