FX Adds College Football to Its Arsenal

The cable network will air 13 games starting this September as “Fox Sports on FX”

FX already has "The League," a semi-scripted comedy about five dudes whose common bond is a fantasy football league. But Monday's announcement that the cable network will carry 13 college football games this fall signals that it cares about real sports, too.

Available in 99 million homes, FX will roll out the package in September. Some of the games — which will be culled from match-ups involving teams from the Big 12, the Pac-12 and Conference USA — may air in primetime.

The telecasts will be produced by Fox Sports, which has a much larger deal to broadcast more than 170 contests through Fox Sports Net and other News Corp. stations and affiliates.

The network, which was once home to NASCAR, Major League Baseball, boxing, NFL Europe and college football, fled the wide world of sports back in 2006.
