“Frozen” star Idina Menzel has weighed in on the campaign to give her character, Elsa, a girlfriend in the sequel to the hit Disney film.

“I think it’s great,” Menzel told ET at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. “Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out.” Menzel was also asked if she would support the decision and she replied, “No matter what.”

Earlier this month, fans began a social media campaign with the hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend. Not all were for the move, however.

Those campaigning for such a plot want to see LGBT representation from a major character in a Disney movie — particularly a princess. Plus, “Let It Go” is already such an anthem in the community, and “Frozen” is already one of the more progressive Disney movies to-date.

Those against such a move seem to be protesting on grounds that “Frozen” is a children’s movie, and not the appropriate vehicle to take such a stance.

No matter what Disney decides to do, any sequel to “Frozen” will no doubt be a monster hit. The first film grossed a staggering $1.2 billion globally. The sequel is still in the works, with all the voice cast from the first film expected to return.
