Freeform’s upcoming horror anthology series “Dead of Summer” has added three new cast members to its first season.
Zelda Williams (“Teen Wolf”), Alberto Frezza (“Charlie’s Angels”) and Eli Goree (“The 100”) join previously announced cast members Mark Indelicato (“Ugly Betty”), Ronen Rubinstein (“Orange Is the New Black”) and Paulina Singer (“Gotham”).
The summer camp horror series, which begins production in March, comes from “Once Upon a Time” creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, who will also direct the first episode.
Williams will play a camp counselor at Camp Clearwater who is a mysterious loner with no interest in bonding with the rest of the group. Frezza will play Deputy Garrett Sykes, a young deputy, and Goree will portray “Joel,” an aspiring filmmaker who is returning to Camp Clearwater as a counselor.
“‘Dead of Summer’ is about what happens when summer camp goes wrong — really, really wrong. The horror genre is new for us and I’m thrilled to have Adam, Eddy and Ian bring their immeasurable talent to our network and usher us into this new space,” Karey Burke, executive vice president of programming and development for ABC Family, now Freeform, said back in November.
ABC Family officially relaunched as Freeform last month as part of the network’s effort to target viewers ages 14-34, a group that it has dubbed “Becomers.”
