‘Fred: The Movie’ to Debut on Nickelodeon Sept. 17

In the movie, based on the web video sensation, Fred journeys to find his longtime crush, Judy

Nickelodeon on Friday set Sept. 17 as the premiere date for "Fred: The Movie" — starring web sensation Lucas Cruikshank as his fast-talking video alter ego.

In the movie, Cruikshank as Fred embarks on a journey to track down his longtime crush, Judy, and sets off a scheme that may ultimately get him the girl.

Co-starring are Jennette McCurdy ("iCarly"), wrestler John Cena as Fred's dad, Siobhan Fallon as his mom, and British teen Pixie Lott as Judy.

Cruikshank debuted his Fred persona on YouTube in 2008. Each short follows the socially awkward Fred as he deals with his crush, Judy, nemesis Kevin, and mother.

He made his TV debut on Nick's "iCarly" in 2009. The episode drew 5.1 million total viewers. His videos have received close to 530 million views, Nickelodeon said in a release.

"Fred: The Movie" was conceived and developed by producer Brian Robbins.
