Fox has come on board to help Dreamworks co-finance Steven Spielberg‘s next film, an untitled Cold War thriller set to star Tom Hanks, the studio told TheWrap.
Dreamworks partner Disney will distribute the film domestically, recently setting it for an Oct. 16, 2015 release. Hanks will star as James Donovan, an American lawyer who’s tasked by the CIA to go behind the Iron Curtain to negotiate the release of a captured pilot. Joel and Ethan Coen wrote the most recent draft of Matt Charman‘s original script.

After shooting the thriller, Speilberg will segue directly to Disney and Dreamworks’ “The BFG,” based on the Roald Dahl children’s book, which was also recently given a release date of July 1, 2016.
Fox and Dreamworks have collaborated on “Lincoln,” “Road to Perdition” and “Castaway.”
