There’s still more than a month left in 2018, but Fox already has its eye on the new year, having already settled on a date for the 2019 Emmy Awards.
The 71st Emmy Awards will be broadcast live coast-to-coast on Sunday, Sept. 22, the network announced on Monday. The ceremony will once again be held at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles.
A host and list of presenters will be announced at a later date.
The best-of-TV celebration will move back to Sunday night this year, now that it’s Fox’s turn to host the telecast. The network will look to reverse the trend of sliding viewership, which culminated in last year’s NBC broadcast landing as the least-watched Emmys on record.
Hosted by “Saturday Night Live’s” Colin Jost and Michael Che, the 2018 show drew just 10.2 million viewers, a nearly 11 percent year-over-year decline.
