Fox will debut a primetime half-hour sketch comedy show from Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx in midseason 2010-11, in which comedian Affion Crockett will star.
The show, which has the super-creative working title "Jamie Foxx Project," comes after unsuccessful talks between Foxx with two x's and Fox with just the one x earlier this year. Foxx presented the network with a pilot called "Afterparty" that wasn't picked up. He also served as a guest during the eight and ninth seasons of the network's reality megahit "American Idol."
A press release announcing "Jamie Foxx Project" on Wednesday promised "a fresh take on pop culture, including spoofs of movie trailers, commercials, TV shows, music videos and celebrities, with a diverse cast made up of the very best new young comedians on the scene today" along with "some of the biggest names in Hollywood … stopping by for a visit."
"Jamie Foxx Project" is a production of Fox Television Studios, Foxx/King Entertainment and The Tannenbaum Company. Foxx, is executive producing with Marcus King, Jaime Rucker King, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum.
