Fox Co-Chief: I ‘Don’t Really Know’ If We’re Leaving for Disney After Merger

Even Gary Newman and Dana Walden are unsure where they’ll end up working if this Disney-Fox merger goes through.

“The truth is, we don’t really know,” Newman told TheWrap Thursday at the Television Critics Association press tour. “Certainly for the next 12-18 months we’re very committed to Fox.”

Walden echoed his notion of (temporary) allegiance, adding, “Clearly, we’ll have decisions to make over time.”

He and Walden run both the Fox broadcast network and its television studio. That latter portion of 21st Century Fox is headed to Disney; the former asset is staying put to become a key part of what they’re calling “New Fox.” What no one knows is where that leaves Newman and Walden.

“We really don’t have a timeline for our decision,” Newman added when we asked for clarification.

The Disney-Fox deal is expected to close in the next year, year-and-a-half — so they certainly ought to know by then.
