Focus Features acquisitions VP Kiska Higgs has been promoted to senior vice president in acquisitions and co-production, President Robert Walak said Thursday.
Higgs came from the department at Focus parent Universal’s international unit. She’s been employed with the Comcast company since 2006.
“Kiska has been a key player in our efforts. She is the consummate professional with strong relationships in the talent community, and a keen nose for discovering the kinds of bold, fresh filmmakers that Focus wants to be in business with,” Walak said.
Higgs was instrumental in acquiring Focus’ current Oscar contender “Loving,”as well as international territories for “Manchester by the Sea” and their recent Sundance pickup “Thoroughbred.”
Higgs will now oversee both worldwide acquisitions and co-productions for Focus as well as its Focus World distribution arm.
