Principal photography has begun in New Mexico on the thriller “Passion Play," the film's producers announced on Tuesday.
The film has an eclectic cast including Mickey Rourke, Bill Murrary, and Megan Fox, as well as "Notting Hill"s' Rhys Ifans in a supporting part. Described as a "Modern fable," it marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Mitch Glazer (“The Recruit,” “Scrooged”), who also wrote the screenplay.
The plot sure sounds … unusual.
The story centers on Nate (Rourke), a down-on-his-luck jazz trumpet player who forms a bond with Lily (Fox), a woman born with wings who has wound up as a carnival sideshow attraction (that old story!).
The two eventually find themselves on the lam from a local gangster (Murray).
The film’s producers are Megan Ellison, Jonah Hirsch, Daniel Dubiecki; executive producers are Rebecca Wang and Tyler Kwon.
