Jude Law’s wizard Dumbledore gets into the action in the first full trailer for this fall’s Harry Potter prequel “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.”
In addition, we see Eddie Redmayne’s magic zoologist Newt Scamander traveling around Paris (and underwater, aboard a magical sea creature) in a quest to stop the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).
At the end of 2016’s “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” Grindelwald was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America).
But in the new film, the second of a planned five-film series, Grindelwald escapes custody and sets about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead.
The film also stars Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo and Poppy Corby-Tuech.
“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is directed by David Yates, from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling. The film is produced by David Heyman, Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.
Warner Bros. plans to release “The Crimes of Grindelwald on November 16. Watch the trailer above.
