"American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino — or at least her publicist — went into crisis mode after a post on the singer's Instagram page seemed to equate gay marriage with the world going mad.
"I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!!" reads the post, which has since been deleted from the singer's Instagram page, but has been preserved on Good as You. "THE WORLD IS GONE MAD … It's a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about [that] we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places. Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET I'M JUDGED!!! Im not doing Nothing for you… My Life!!!!!"

The singer's publicist kicked into action, issuing a statement to "set the record straight" — perhaps a poor choice of words. More troublingly, the publicist said the statement was taken "far out of context," though, in fact, it was widely reported in its entirety.

"Comments made by Ms. Barrino through her Instagram account were recently taken far out of context, and the purpose of this release is to set the record straight," said the spokesman, Timothy C. Boston. "Ms. Barrino is not now, nor has she ever been an opponent of the LGBT community. She has supported and performed at numerous events that are sponsored by the LGBT community. Whether it's through a live performance or placement on social media, Ms. Barrino uses every opportunity to reach out to her fans, all of her fans."
Maybe even too many opportunities.
