Oscar-nominated actor Liam Neeson is in negotiations to re-team with his "A-Team" director Joe Carnahan for the survival drama "The Grey," an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
Carnahan co-wrote the screenplay with Ian Mackenzie Jeffers, who wrote the original short story that the script is based on.
The story follows a team of pipeline workers who struggle to survive in the Alaskan wild after their plane crashes there. The men come under attack from a pack of vicious wolves who view the humans as intruders who must be killed.
Neeson will play the team leader, who aches to reunite with the woman he loves.
Scott Free's Ridley and Tony Scott will produce the $34 million movie with Inferno Entertainment's Bill Johnson, RSA's Jules Daly and Carnahan.
Inferno partner Jim Seibel will exec produce the project, which is expected to begin production early next year.
Inferno is fully financing and handling foreign sales for the movie, which was sold to many territories at Berlin's film market.
Neeson is represented by CAA, which is handling North American rights for the project.
