EXCLUSIVE
Caroline Goodall ("Schindler's List") has been cast as Bruce Willis' wife in "The Cold Light of Day," the actress' representation at Untitled Entertainment has confirmed to TheWrap.
Summit Entertainment and Intrepid Pictures are co-financing the thriller, which stars Henry Cavill ("The Tudors") as a young American whose family is kidnapped while vacationing in Spain. He's given hours to find them, uncover a government conspiracy and discover the connection between the kidnapping and his father's secrets.
Willis will play Cavill's father, while Sigourney Weaver will play the villain, a role that was originally written for a male actor.
Mabrouk El Mechri (the impressive "JCVD") directs from a screenplay by Scott Wiper and John Petro, whose script was recently rewritten by novelist/screenwriter Richard Price ("Ransom," HBO's "The Wire").
Intrepid's Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans are producing, while Kevin Mann, Matthew Perniciaro and Galavis Films principal Jesus Martinez will exec produce with Wiper. Film Rites' Steve Zaillian and Garrett Basch will also exec produce.
While Goodall may not be a household name stateside, she's definitely a recognizable star. The English actress has starred in several hit movies, including "Hook," "Cliffhanger," "Disclosure" and "The Princess Diaries." She most recently appeared in "Dorian Gray" and the Nia Vardalos romantic comedy "My Life in Ruins."
"The Cold Light of Day" is scheduled to begin production on Sept. 6 in Spain.
