Fresh off a breakout role in Richard Linklater‘s “Everybody Wants Some!!” Glen Powell is in negotiations to star opposite Emilia Clarke in MGM’s romantic comedy “Set It Up,” TheWrap has exclusively learned.
Veteran TV director Claire Scanlon will make her feature directorial debut with the project, which was written on spec by Katie Silberman. Justin Nappi is producing under his Treehouse Pictures banner along with Juliet Berman.
Story follows two overwhelmed assistants who set up their tyrannical bosses romantically in order to get them out of their hair.
Powell is a up-and-coming star who has seen his stock rise thanks to his charming performance as Finnegan in “Everybody Wants Some!!” The versatile young actor recently starred on Fox’s “Scream Queens” and wrapped the war drama “Sand Castle,” and he was also recently cast as John Glenn in Ted Melfi‘s space drama “Hidden Figures.” Powell is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and attorney Gregory Slewett.
Scanlon is a well-respected TV director who has worked on such hit shows as “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “The Last Man on Earth,” “The Goldbergs,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Fresh Off the Boat,” among others. She’s repped by 3 Arts Entertainment.
