Kirby, the legendary comic book artist co-created the original Wasp (aka Van Dyne) along with Stan Lee. She first appeared in Tales to Astonish #44 in 1963. The Wasp became a founding member of the Avengers and the wife of Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man. Lilly is playing Hope Van Dyne, the daughter of Janet and Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas.
Set after the events of “Captain America: Civil War” — in which Ant-Man revealed he could also turn into the towering Giant Man — “Ant-Man & The Wasp” will see the return of Janet Van Dyne, the long-lost wife of the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym, who fought alongside him as the Wasp back in the 1980s.
At Marvel Studios’ Comic-Con presentation, it was announced that Michelle Pfeiffer, who famously played Catwoman in “Batman Returns” 25 years ago, will return to the world of comic book movies to play Van Dyne.
Director Peyton Reed will return for the follow-up to 2015’s original, which starred Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, a thief turned pint-sized superhero.
“Ant-Man & The Wasp” arrives in theaters July 6, 2018.
