Oscar nominated actor Ethan Hawke is set to star in Yaron Zilberman's indie drama "A Late Quartet," the actor's publicist has confirmed to TheWrap.
The story follows a string quartet whose members have performed together for 25 years. They're forced to adjust when one of them retires due to Parkinson's disease.
Hawke will play the second violinist whose desire for more solos leads him to have an affair with his jogging partner, a decision that leaves his remorseful and saddened by the state of his marriage.
Zilberman co-wrote the script with Seth Grossman, and will also produce through his company Opening Night Productions.
Hawke recently directed the Off Broadway play "A Lie of the Mind" for the New Group, and he is expected to work on another play for the company after he finishes "Quartet."
On the big screen, Hawke recently starred in the crime dramas "What Doesn't Kill You" and "Brooklyn's Finest," as well as the vampire flick "Daybreakers."
The actor will soon be seen opposite Kristin Scott Thomas in "The Woman in the Fifth," and in Michael Almereyda's drama "Tonight at Noon." He's also attached to star in and produce "The Numbers Station."
Hawke is represented by CAA.
