"Tropic Thunder" writer Etan Cohen has been hired to rewrite Sony Pictures' "Ghostbusters 3," an individual close to the situation told TheWrap.
The 38-year-old scribe was tapped to rewrite the film that producer Ivan Reitman last year said had a "really good script."
This marks new movement on long-awaited film, which appeared to hit a roadblock in 2011, when Reitman told ComingSoon.net that franchise star Bill Murray had not read the script.

“There has been all kinds of chatter online about him reading it and not liking it. He has not read a thing. He's never read anything," Reitman said. "And I just sent it to him. So we'll see. God knows how long that will take. But we'll see.”
Cohen, who recently penned "Men in Black 3," started his career in the mid-1990s as a script producer for the MTV cartoon "Beavis and Butt-Head"
Variety first reported the news.
