Enrique Iglesias Undergoes Hand Surgery After Drone Accident

Singer will resume his tour in July after mishap at Tijuana concert on Saturday

Enrique Iglesias, whose fingers were sliced during a run-in with a camera-carrying drone during a concert in Tijuana on Saturday, will undergo reconstructive hand surgery in Los Angeles on Monday, the singer’s publicist said.

The singer plans to resume his SexAndLove tour on July 3, with a concert in Mexico City.

Iglesias’ hand was badly bloodied during Saturday’s concert. According  to a representative for the singer, the drone is used to capture crowd shots during Iglesias’ concerts. On occasion, the singer will grab the drone to provide the crowd with a point-of-view shot, but on Saturday that plan went badly awry.

“Something went wrong and he had an accident,” the representative told People.

Though bloodied, Iglesias went on to perform for another half hour at Saturday’s show after receiving treatment at the side of the stage.

“Thank you to all for your concern and good wishes,” Iglesias’ publicist said in a statement Monday.
