Endeavor’s Patrick Whitesell Slams Warner Bros for ‘Blatant Attempt to Self Deal’ in HBO Max Streaming Decision

Talent agency will meet with studio today to negotiate “a solution that protects the creative and economic interests of our clients”

Endeavor executive chairman Patrick Whitesell says in a note to staff that the agency is rejecting Warner Bros.’ approach to releasing its entire 2021 slate on HBO Max the same day as in theaters.

The talent agency is meeting with the studio Friday to additionally negotiate “a solution that protects the creative and economic interests of our clients.”

“As I made clear to the Motion Picture group last week and will reiterate now: WME rejects their unilateral decision out of hand,” Whitesell said, adding that they were “disappointed” with the decision but also says that the studio is disregarding the feelings of WME’s clients, if not violating contracts.
