Starz Entertainment’s new premium Spanish-language channel launched Monday on AT&T U-Verse and Verizon FiOS, Starz Entertainment has announced.
The new channel offers movie programming in Spanish 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in an uncut and commercial-free format.
Starz’s executive VP, sales and affiliate marketing, Ed Huguez, said that the channel will be working with its other affiliates to set up more launches of Encore Español in the future.
Verizon’s director of multicultural marketing, Oscar Madrid, said that Encore Español will add “an important dimension to our overall Spanish language programming.”
Encore Español’s roster of programming will include such films as “Alice in Wonderland,” “Up” and “Gangs of New York,” as well as the first Encore original, an adaptation of Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick” starring WIlliam Hurt, Ethan Hawke and Gillian Anderson, which premieres Monday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
