“Empire” may be trending downward these days, but the Fox soap is still pulling mega ratings numbers and crushing its Wednesday competition.
On Wednesday night, the Lee Daniels hip-hop drama dipped 8 percent from the prior week, following an 18 percent slide from lead-in “Rosewood.” Fox still easily topped both the key 18-49 demographic and total viewer tallies.
Fox was first in ratings with a 3.0 rating/10 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 8.6 million, according to preliminary numbers. “Rosewood” at 8 p.m. had a 1.4/5 and 5 million viewers. “Empire” at 9 posted a 4.6/14 and 12.2 million viewers.
ABC was second in ratings with a 1.8/6, but fourth in viewers with 6 million. “The Middle” at 8 got a 1.9/7 and 7.1 million viewers. “The Goldbergs” at 8:30 received a 2.0/7 and 6.4 million viewers. “Modern Family” at 9 earned a 2.6/8 and 7.8 million viewers. “Black-ish” at 9:30 had a 1.8/6 and 5.7 million viewers. “Nashville” at 10 rose 20 percent to a 1.2/4, with 4.6 million viewers.
CBS was third in ratings with a 1.7/5 and second in viewers with 8.3 million. “Survivor” at 8 had a 2.1/8 and 9.1 million viewers. “Criminal Minds” at 9 got a 1.7/5 and 8.9 million viewers. “Code Black” at 10 received a 1.2/4 and 6.9 million viewers.
NBC was fourth in ratings with a 1.3/4 and third in viewers with 6.5 million. “Mysteries of Laura” at 8 had a 1.0/3 and 6.9 million viewers. “Law & Order: SVU” at 9 got a 1.5/5 and 6.2 million viewers. “Chicago PD” at 10 received a 1.5/5 and 6.6 million viewers.
The CW was fifth in ratings with a 0.9/3 and in viewers with 2.2 million. “Arrow” at 8 posted a 0.9/3 and 2.5 million viewers. “Supernatural” at 9 had a 0.8/3 and 1.9 million viewers.
Univision was sixth in ratings with a 0.8/2 and in viewers with 2 million.
Telemundo was seventh with a 0.7/2 and in viewers with 1.9 million.
