Ratings: Fox’s ‘Empire’ Rules the Night Again With 6th Week of Growth

Hip-hop soap opera grabs a 5.1 demo rating and 12.9 million total viewers

Fox’s “Empire” continued its unprecedented growth on Wednesday night, rising once more to a 5.1 rating/15 share and 12.9 million total viewers. This marked the show’s sixth consecutive week adding audience members per fast nationals, and it’s best demo number to-date.

In quieter-but-still-relevant news, third-place NBC’s lineup rose double-digits.

Fox was first in ratings with a 3.9 rating/12 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 11.7 million, according to preliminary numbers. “American Idol” at 8 p.m. received a 2.7/9 and 10.5 million viewers. “Empire” followed at 9, scoring the night’s top marks.

ABC was second in ratings with a 2.0/6 and third in viewers with 6.5 million. “The Middle” at 8 had a 2.2/7 and 7.7 million viewers. “The Goldbergs” at 8:30 received a 2.2/7 and 6.8 million viewers. “Modern Family” at 9 earned a 3.0/9 and 8.8 million viewers. “Black-ish” at 9:30 posted a 2.2/6 and 6.5 million viewers. “Nashville” at 10 got a 1.3/4 and 4.7 million viewers.

NBC was third in ratings with a 1.4/4 and fourth in viewers with 6.4 million. “Mysteries of Laura” at 8 had a 1.1/3 and 5.8 million viewers. “Law & Order: SVU” at 9 got a 1.6/4 and 6.4 million viewers. “Chicago P.D.” at 10 rose to a 1.7/5 and 7 million viewers.

CBS was fourth in ratings with a 1.3/4, but second in viewers with 9.2 million. “The Mentalist” at 8 had a 1.3/4 and 10.2 million viewers. “Stalker” at 10 got a 1.3/4 and 7.2 million viewers.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and in viewers with 2.9 million.

The CW was sixth in ratings with a 0.8/3 and in viewers with 2.2 million. “Arrow” at 8 received a 1.1/4 and 2.8 million viewers. “The 100” at 9 ticked up to a 0.6/2 and 1.5 million viewers.

Telemundo was seventh in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in viewers with 1.4 million.
