Judd Apatow Jokes Emma Stone ‘Cursed’ Him for ‘Superbad’ Dye Job: ‘Now People Love Her With Red Hair’

Emma Stone has been cursing Judd Apatow since 2007 when “Superbad” hit theaters and everyone fell in love with her dyed red hair, the director jokes in a new book.

In an excerpt shared with People from the upcoming book “I Am McLovin: How Superbad Became the Biggest Comedy Hit of Its Generation,” Apatow explained that in order to change up the hair colors of the film’s female leads he made an off-hand remark that, “well, maybe it could be red or something?” That off hand choice has haunted Stone for 18 years.

“So we dyed her hair red, which I think she had never done before,” Apatow said.
