‘A Quiet Place’ Star Emily Blunt on Working With Director-Husband John Krasinski: ‘Wonderful Relief’ (Video)

“It was thrilling to see him blossom,” actress says of Krasinski directing her in horror pic

After Emily Blunt and John Krasinski passed on starring in several films together, Blunt says it was a “wonderful relief” to finally work with her husband on their new horror movie, “A Quiet Place.”

“It was a wonderful relief actually, to get on set and realize just how creatively aligned we were and how in tandem we were and what we felt about the film and how we wanted to approach it,” Blunt told TheWrap’s Sharon Waxman during the 2018 SXSW Film Festival.

“We discovered different sides to each other — the professional working side. When you are in this intense insular world, we spoke to each other in that world,” she said. “It was focused on the work that we were doing.”

Blunt also praised her husband’s directing skills,  especially his “stress management” tactics while tackling the film’s tricky subject matter.

“I probably underestimated how visually in tune he was for how he wanted to shoot this film and the ideas he had for capturing the visual tension of this film,” she added. “It was thrilling to see him blossom.”

“A Quiet Place” is about a family in a post-alien-invasion future that has to live in complete silence, otherwise sound-attuned creatures will hunt them.

Even the most normal tasks become daunting: eating dinner with the family, playing board games or going fishing makes the characters fear for their lives.

Blunt and Krasinski star alongside Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. It hits theaters this Friday and still holds a score of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
